Welcome to Next Draft with Diane Hatz

Welcome to Next Draft with Diane Hatz, a newsletter for creatives searching inward. And some writing stuff.

Next Draft will share research for the books I’m writing and other creative musings. It’s include pieces on the themes behind my work - spirit, self-care, female empowerment, etc. On occasion, I'll even share what's on my mind. And look for articles about the publishing process and fiction writing in general.

I'm in the process of republishing a book I wrote in 2008 - now titled Rock Gods & Messy Monsters. The book overflows with a surreal and comedic cast of record company characters. It reveals that dreams can turn into nightmares, and real power is being true to ourselves. It's a rollercoaster of literary fun! Official release date is September 7th, 2022.

I'm also 51,000+ words into my next novel. It's too early to give details, but there will be spirits, adventure, self-discovery, and social commentary.

I’ve also recently started a monthly ‘zine - it’s a roundup of articles from the month as well as tidbits and other info I’d like to share.

See below if you’d only like to get articles from one or two sections of the newsletter.

My current goal is to publish an article every week on Mondays by 7pm eastern. Apologies in advance for any delays - indie publishing can be so time-consuming!

Endnote

If you've been here a while, you might have noticed the newsletter's focus has changed. I love food, health, and wellness, but these subjects are too broad for me to share effectively. And I don't have the passion for them I once had.

I've also decided it's time for me to pursue fiction writing and books 100%. It's what I've wanted to do since I was 15 years old, so I'm giving it one year - or two if I’m lucky. Then I'll evaluate where I'm at.

I hope you'll join me - or continue to stay with me - on this journey as I publish books and fulfill my lifelong dream of being a respected, remunerated writer.

I'd love to hear about any life changes you might be going through. May you always have the courage to turn your dreams into reality!

To Change What You Receive

The current sections in Next draft are:

  • Next Draft (this is monthly newsletter)

  • Fiction/Book (articles about my books and eventually some fiction specifically for Next Draft)

  • Business of Writing (the process of writing, publishing and marketing books)

  • Self-care/Spirit (themes within my writing)

  • Podcast (still sorting this out)

  • Misc (general things that don't fit elsewhere I was moved to write)

If you’d like to receive one or a few of these pieces, you can do it in your settings.

All you need to do is click on your picture in the top right. If you look down, it should say 'manage subscription'. Clicking on that should bring up my different sections. Simply uncheck what you don’t want to receive.

Next Draft with Diane Hatz is a reader-supported publication. To receive new posts and support my work, consider becoming a free or paid subscriber.
