I've experimented here and there with meditation. The wandering mind phenomenon you talk about is something that gets me every time!

It's taken me years! - but I've come to be at peace with the wandering and just let it be. I think that's the point. To stop the struggle.

Oh my gosh, I love this! I've never meditated, for the reasons you describe: I thought there was far more to it than simply breathing and I wasn't up to it. Or into it. I'm going to try it tomorrow morning. And hopefully the next morning, too.

Interesting. Never formally practiced; however I suspect half the battle in getting results is not feeling the act of meditating and the results are going to be perfect. Getting older and feeling less stressed probably helps as well.

It's the not trying to be perfect thing that helped me the most. That and understanding meditation is basically a commodity these days and some people try to one-up each other, making it more and more complicated. All you need is breathing...

This was great. I just spent the weekend sailing a small boat and it's probably one of the best forms of meditation for me. Every moment the focus is on the wind and the boat and the surroundings.

Thanks, Matt! Sailing is excellent meditation - especially solo, seeing as you have to concentrate so much. And I have a feeling you built the boat!.... Hope all's well!
