I'm taking the same approach. I want to publish books 2 and 3 in my series close together. Until then I am not doing any marketing on book 1 which is already published. I will save that effort for when there are more books for my readers
It's so hard to sit on a book so I'm really hoping I can do it with book 2. I don't regret marketing the first one the way I did because I learned so much, but I would have had book 2 done faster if I'd skipped some things. I'd like to get my series done before promoting - well, at least the main story. I have side books I can do about things in the book but I don't think I need to wait for those the be written.
